Canadian Hostage, 18 Others Freed

Robert Croke, a Canadian abducted from an oil platform in Nigeria more than a week ago, has been freed.

Croke, 51, who lives in Torbay, N.L., was abducted by militants Nov. 8 along with six others on the oil rig High Island VII, which had recently arrived at an oilfield off the coast of Akwa Ibom state.

According to reports, Nigeria’s military rescued a total of 19 hostages in a land, air and sea operation yesterday.

NTV News said Croke works for PPI Technology Services, a drilling management company based in Houston.
